I have beautiful, thick, curly, "not dry or greasy", brunette hair. As proud of it as I am, I love to straighten it. If I pull my hair into a pony tail, it stays wet until the next day when I go to take a shower. Well, my problem is, recently when I've been straghtening it, it has ended up greasy and it looks dark brown. Why is this? I just started using sun silk for curly hair. Is that why? Am I using too much conditioner? If I don't my hair gets knotted. Thank you for answering,
Kate
Greasy straight hair!? HELP!?
i also have long, thick ,dark, wavy hair...and i also love straightening it...
as for me, when conditioning, i focus mainly on the ends of my hair coz that's where it dries up most when you style them with heat. too much conditioner on the top (or on your roots) tends to make the hair too limp and it makes it appear greasy.
Greasy straight hair!? HELP!?
Usually that means your using too many styling aids or too much conditioner. Ease up!

i also have thick curly brunette hair and i use sunsilk for curly hair that needs control and i also striaghten it(wierd by the way) umm maybe u are using tomuch condidtoner because mine doesnt do that so i think you shoould use a smaller amount and since ur hair gets tangly get the 24/7 cream and put that in ur hair(wet or dry) that should fix ur problem
Greasy straight hair!? HELP!?
when you straighten it, you pretty much lose everything your hair . it's bad for the hair, so i suggest you stop .
hair gets dry when you straighten it, and then your roots make more oil and your hair is greasy . so don't straighten, just use a shampoo that naturally straightens hair instead of the straightener
Greasy straight hair!? HELP!?
The conditioner you may have been using may be too heavy for your hair. I would try using another conditioner. I haven't heard good things about Sunsilk.
Greasy straight hair!? HELP!?
Alrighty, I have a few ideas for you!
First off, I've heard bad things about sun silk, try a good brand like Pantene, smooth and seek. I don't believe that shampoos for curly hair do much good for people with curly hair. So try switching to a nice shampoo.
Secondly, sounds like you have really think hair. You may want to consider next time getting you hair cut to have the ends razor-ed. It gets rid of the bulk but your beautiful thick hair will still be thick, but a little more manageable and it will also dry faster.
Lastly, everyone should use a conditioner, so try a brand like panetene, smooth and sleek conditioner, but depending on the lenght of your hair: short hair - dime size amount, medium - nickle size amount, long hair- quarter size amount.
When applying conditioner only to your ends and run you fingers through your hair, then rinse really good.

I would say that it sounds as if you are over conditioning i use to be notorious for this and thats how my hair looked!

Use a little less conditioner. Also try a shampoo for greasy hair when you are planning to straighten it! Comb out your hair while it's still wet to prevent knots. Good luck! I straighten my hair after my shower before I go to bed to keep it straight, that might work...you could try!
