I have really long straight hair. Would a medium cut with layers look good...with straight hair?

am thinking of getting it cut but I don't want it to be just like straight at the bottom, and i dont want it to be too short...more like choppy just above the chest area.. I have a narrow face and I am really lanky. I know nothing about layers and angles and all of that. I do have side bangs though. Anyone have any recomendations or pics?

Go for it...it will add more body and shape to your hair if it is alittle bit shorter. I have medium length with long layers in the back. Very low maintenance!

Don't worry about it being straight at the bottom. Because I have Pin Straight smooth brown hair, and for a really long time it was really long and it wouldn't curl and it was always perfectly straight. But then I got layers cut at a medium length like ym collar bone, and now it it flips out on its own and sometimes I even have to straighten it. Side bangs always look good, and sometims straght across bangs look good too. Maybe you should ask the lady who cuts your hair what she thinks would look best. : ]

I had waist length straight hair until a couple of months ago when I got it cut to shoulder length with a bit of layering. Shorter with layers gives my hair a lot more body, especially when I mouse and blow dry. Drying with a round brush can help you avoid the straight ends. I'd suggest finding an experienced stylist to help you make a decision based on your own hair and face.
